How it started
From furniture removals to a specialised rubbish removal service
ACT Rubbish began after years of helping Canberra residents and businesses move. At the time, we operated three trucks and regularly helped customers with houses, apartments and offices.
Customers would sometimes ask us to take an old fridge, couch or unwanted furniture away. Charging for a truck and two workers by the hour did not always make sense for a small disposal job, so we created a separate service with pricing based on the items and disposal involved.
What began as one dedicated rubbish removal day each week steadily grew. Customers valued having a local team that could handle furniture carefully, communicate clearly and complete the job without making the process difficult.

How rubbish removal became our full-time focus
During COVID, registered waste transporters were recognised as an essential service. We were able to continue helping customers while traditional moving work was restricted.
Demand for responsible rubbish removal increased, and the business continued to grow. Since then, we have focused exclusively on rubbish removal and property clearances. We no longer offer moving services.

We remove furniture, appliances, household contents and rubbish that is already packed in bags or boxes. We do not provide site cleaning, moving services, skip bins, or demolition and construction waste removal.
